Brae and me!!

I did it! I broke free from my neighborhood tangles to spend last weekend with Brae in Annapolis. It took until Sunday after church at Starbucks with Brae sipping a double espresso for me to hear about her friends, her thoughts, her big dreams and plans, her likes and dislikes, her new place in Philly, her church and mainly her determination to find her way into the world of photo-journalism. I admire and love her so much and find it hard to believe she came from traditional, conventional, domestic me!! I have found the secret to Brae opening up...the double espresso from Starbucks. Thank you Brae for your time and companionship. I love this picture you took of us.

Did our mom's feel the same way about us? We were something "so special" coming from "ordinary them"? I think my kids are incredible! How did that happen? (glad you got away:-)

I'm still waiting for the Boy Howard photo, but in the meantime, this one fills the gap quite nicely. I'm happy for both of you that you got a bit of time together. Mothers and daughters don't always make that happen. Our relationships with our kids always serves as a reminder of my relationship with my heavenly Father. In this case, regarding prayer, I know He delights in my requests, as I delight in hearing that my children need me for something or another. But how much richer is the relationship when my kids just want to sit and visit with me a little while. Do I do that with God in prayer? Not hardly ever. Usually it's all about the needs of the day and not about being in each other's presence.
